EPA 2021 MX Engine Fuel Filter Replacement – Maintenance Monthly

Protect your EPA 21/24 fuel system with proper fuel filter replacement!

The fuel system is extremely sensitive to debris, which can fall into the clean side of the filter housing, so it is important to ensure you are taking the proper steps to successfully replace your filter and prevent any damage. Please review the steps below to ensure proper fuel filter replacement.

Step 1: Loosen both filter caps until the O-Ring is just fully visible – not farther

• • Loosen the primary filter cap first, then the secondary cap to prevent cross contamination
  • Loosen both caps within 30 seconds of each other

Step 2: Wait/drain full 2 minutes

Step 3: Remove caps & filters

• • Inspect for debris – if debris is present remove per RMI procedure

Step 4: Remove filters from caps

• • Clockwise turn
  • Pull away from cap

Step 5: Install new OEM fuel filters to caps

• • Lubricate filter seals & cap O-Ring with fresh engine oil
  • Push onto cap – ”snap”
  • Turn counterclockwise

Step 6: Install filters & caps – torque to 80nm/59lbft

Step 7: Hand prime

• • 70 strokes – feel resistance
  • 170 strokes – greater resistance

Step 8: Start & IDLE for 5 Minutes

• • No start? 30-45 more pumps-start – IDLE 5 minutes
  • No start? 30-45 more pumps-start – IDLE 5 minutes
